As a high school player for Scott City High School in Scott City, Missouri, Jon’s high school team was 105-15 over his 4 year career. He was an accomplished high school player who played in the Missouri All-Star game and was named offensive player of that game. Jon became a highly skilled shooter and one of Missouri's all-time leading scorers. His career point total was 1,921 points! Jon was nominated to the McDonald’s All-American team, Three-time First Team All-State and Three-time First Team All-Region and All- District. No other player during his high school career was as accomplished as Jon. He still holds numerous Missouri high school records: 7 three-point shots in a quarter, 10 three-point shots in a half, 16 three-point shots in a game. He ended his senior season with 91 threes and his career with 256 threes. Jon was honored with a feature on ESPN’s Scholastic Sports America show after scoring 59 points in a game his junior year. Jon continued to add to his accomplishments by shooting over 85% from the free throw line & 50% from the three-point line in both his junior and senior years. He helped lead his team to at least 25 wins in each of his four years and the team always finished among the top 10 in Missouri high schools in the state polls. He is still Scott City High School’s all-time leading scorer.
Everyone in Southeast Missouri knows there’s a lot of tradition in the historic “hotbed” of Southeast Missouri basketball. Jon is especially honored to be included in the book Bootheel Basketball: A Half Century of Hoops Supremacy. Jon was named to the top 50 players of all time.

Jon has turned his accomplishments and sincere passion for the game into a teaching philosophy that involves a theoretical framework which views skill acquisition as a process of perception-action coupling between the individual, task, and environment that helps young athletes achieve their own dreams.
